Time To Stop Drinking…

stop drinking booksTime to stop drinking, Why? As a grown-up, you might feel that a cheeky glass of wine or a cold one is your right.

You may claim that drinking helps you relax. Many state as a benefit that booze reduces inhibitions and helps people to feel connected to others in sociable perimeters.

You accept that you sometimes drink a bit more than you should, but hey, who hasn’t?

Everybody you know has overindulged on several instances, and you attempt to tell yourself that your behavior isn’t any worse or different to that of other people.

However, you may feel a sort of internal poking that is trying to advise you there is something unique about the way you drink, compared to the way other people drink.

You may feel ashamed or guilty about things you have done while under the influence, and you may sometimes not even recall what you did.

Here are some signs that it’s time to reevaluate the idea that drinking must be part of grown-up life and admit that it’s time to kick the habit.


When you consume alcohol regularly, you may detect that you begin to develop resistance. This means that you require increasingly more booze to get the same effect.

If it used to take a couple of cocktails to unwind at the end of a difficult day, now it requires 3 or 4. You might spot that you have to drink before parties and get-togethers so that you will be relaxed enough to attend, and that you can’t even think about interacting socially without drinking alcohol.

Perhaps you are drinking wine every night now and you tell yourself that you need it to relax.

Wine Every Night?

Mingling at parties isn’t the only thing that you might need alcohol to face. You could need a drink or more in order to have the courage to deal with any nerve-racking event, from job interviews to first dates to travel.

Do you find that you have to turn to liquor more and more to get through the stresses of regular living? If you are reaching for alcoholic drinks first thing in the morning, or if you believe you have to drink to cope with normal mundane situations, you might have to consider how much you are turning to alcohol and what other coping skills you might use instead.

The truth is… alcohol does not help people ‘cope’ with life.


People who love you the most may be starting to get concerned about your behavior when you’re consuming alcohol.

They could begin to grumble that you are drinking way too much or that you are upsetting them. They may tell you about things you have done while drunk that you don’t recall. They may give out to you and demand that you cut back on your alcohol consumption or quit drinking entirely.

There’s a likelihood these remarks aren’t stemming from random strangers but from people who truly love and care about you.


  • As your drinking progresses, you might discover that you are participating in more and more negligent behavior.
  • You are doing things you never would do if you weren’t drunk of alcohol.
  • You may drive a vehicle intoxicated or wake up next to people you don’t recognize.
  • You may become belligerent or be threatening while intoxicated.
  • You may be dealing with legal issues triggered by driving intoxicated or becoming violent while intoxicated.


  • Have you started to experience issues with your health and wellness due to your drinking?
  • Has your physician told you that your liver enzymes are irregular and that you ought to quit drinking?

You might have experienced irritation in the lining of your throat or stomach because of your drinking. Some health complications that are triggered by drinking aren’t going to disappear until you quit.


If you have experienced several of these signs of alcoholism, talk to your doctor or a therapist. If you find that you are unable to stop drinking alcohol by yourself when you try, it’s essential to get assistance. Giving up cold turkey may be dangerous.

When you acknowledge that you are having a challenge with alcohol, you have taken one of the most important steps to rehabilitation.

It’s possible to lead a happy sober life, but you will need to have the assistance of other people to understand how to quit drinking alcohol and appreciate life without it.
