Woman Raising Money For The Children of Alcoholics
A Welsh lady will scale 3 Welsh peaks in less than TWENTY FOUR HOURS in memory of her dad who passed away Two Decades ago after battling with alcohol addiction.
Mother-of-two Rebecca Rock will be joined by her spouse Mark when she tackles the largest mountains in southern, mid and northern Wales in June, hiking up Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, and Cadair Idris and Snowdon in the Snowdonia National forest in just 1 day.
Rebecca, 42, is intending to raise as much cash as possible for The Nationwide Association for Children of Alcoholics, a charitable organization which is close to her soul after losing her very own dad to alcohol addiction when she was just 21 years of ages.
” He had a lengthy addiction to booze and unfortunately his dependency took his life,” mentioned Rebecca, who lives in Blaenplwyf with Mark, 46, their 2 children Phoebe, 10, and Holly, 8, and their pet ‘cockerpoo’– a cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle pup Marley.
” After watching a Louis Theroux broadcast about alcohol addiction in 2015 I was truly touched by the battle of a young guy called Joe Walker.”
” I began thinking how I wished to do something practical to remember my father as well as to help other individuals battling substance addiction and to help their loved ones.
Rebecca stated she understood that her father, Tony, was consuming alcohol a great deal, even at an early age.
“Every night we ‘d reach the store and he would get me a bottle of pop and himself a bottle of gin,” she explained.
