How do I drink in moderation and should I?

how to stop drinking

How do I drink in moderation?

How do I drink in moderationOver the years that I have been running the Stop Drinking Expert website I would say the most common question I get asked is How do I drink in moderation?

My answer to that question is always the same… ‘are you sure you know what you are asking for’?

Why would you want to drink in moderation? That sounds bloody awful!

There is no advantage in drinking a small amount of poison.

Let me switch the substance so I can paint you a little mental picture of what I mean. Imagine for me that you come around to my house to watch a movie, and when you arrive you tell me that you are starving hungry.

I bring out a box of the most expensive, most beautiful and best tasting chocolates you have ever seen.

BUT I tell you that you are only allowed one chocolate and that for the rest of the movie you will be forced to watch me eat the remainder of the box.

Do you agree that it would actually be better if there was no box of chocolates at all?

Can you see that even though you get to enjoy one of my delicious chocolates the pain of forcing yourself not to eat any more would massively outweigh the positive of the first and only piece of candy you will get?

How do I drink in moderation?

Moderation is far worse than stopping drinking completely… but this is not what the big alcohol companies want you to believe.

They encourage you to believe that their drug can be moderated if only you have enough willpower.

They also want you to believe that stopping drinking is difficult, painful and will leave you a social outcast. All this is nonsense, it’s easy to stop drinking – when you have the tools to do so.

I have helped over 50,000 just like you to escape the trap of alcoholism – and I am quite happy for you to be the next!
